Prayer Request for the Chang Hao case
Dear brothers and sisters in Christ, friends, peace be with you!
We are the family of Christian Chang Hao from Zhenxiong County, Yunnan. The “provocation and trouble-making case” against Chang Hao was re-investigated by the prosecutor’s office on September 8, making it 5 months since he was taken away by the police on April 14. Our family misses him very much. Yesterday morning, the lawyer visited him at the Zhenxiong County detention center. The lawyer said that he is very clear-minded, has a wealth of legal knowledge, and a strong sense of citizenship. Chang Hao believes that he has not committed any crime. He is very grateful to the Christians and friends who have shown concern for his case.
Because he is a second-level disabled person with severe nearsightedness exceeding 300 degrees, Chang Hao’s life in the detention center is very inconvenient. He needs assistance with eating and washing clothes. The detention center also does not provide hot water. Without his glasses, he cannot read conveniently. Chang Hao really wants to read the Bible now. He told his lawyer that his blood sugar was high for a period of time (but he insisted on not taking medication to avoid dependence) and now his blood pressure is high. After the visit, the lawyer informed the resident prosecutor about Chang Hao’s situation, hoping that the detention center would legally protect the rights of criminal suspects, including their right to religious belief.
The lawyer met with the prosecutor at the Zhenxiong County Prosecutor’s Office that afternoon to once again apply for bail for Chang Hao. In addition to the controversy surrounding the case, there were also humanitarian considerations: Chang Hao is severely disabled, his wife is in poor health, and there is an 86-year-old mother in their family who needs care. The prosecutor asked the lawyer to wait for notification as he would report to his superiors. The lawyer once again raised the issue of copying or duplicating the case files, but the prosecutor still disagreed. The lawyer stated that he would continue to uphold his rights according to the law. “May fairness flow like a great river, and justice be as vast as the ocean!” Please pray for a fair treatment of the Chang Hao case and the protection of the lawyer’s professional rights. Also, please pray for Chang Hao’s health. May he be able to read the Bible soon! May our family be reunited soon! Thank you all!
