Yang Xibo and Wang Xiaofei accepted “in-court questioning” and the court found out that they had no property.

Recently, many members of the church have been continuously praying for Yang Xibo, a preacher at Xiamen Xunsiding Church, and his wife Wang Xiaofei. The “China 5 PM Prayer Meeting” has also frequently prayed for this couple.

On December 2, 2023, Yang Xibo and his wife Wang Xiaofei were summoned by the Siming District Court in Xiamen City to appear in court for an inquiry on December 6.

Previously, the couple was fined 450,000 yuan by Xiamen authorities. They sued in court but lost the case, and their appeal was also rejected, upholding the original judgment.

The court is now asking them to report their assets and pay the fine. Failure to comply could result in “credit punishment” according to the law, along with other legal consequences.

Wang Xiaofei posted related information on her WeChat Moments. On December 7, 2023, in response to the church members during the “China 5 PM Prayer Meeting,” Yang Xibo stated: “We have returned home safely. The executing judge checked and knows that we indeed have no assets. Thank you all for your prayers!”

In April 2023, the final judgment was made in the administrative lawsuit filed by Yang Xibo and his wife Wang Xiaofei, leaders of the house church in Xiamen, Fujian Province, against the Siming District Ethnic and Religious Affairs Bureau and the Siming District People’s Government of Xiamen City. The Xiamen City Intermediate People’s Court upheld the administrative penalty decision of the Siming District Bureau of Ethnic and Religious Affairs and the Siming District People’s Government, rejecting Yang Xibo and Wang Xiaofei’s appeal. The court upheld the original ruling, fining Yang Xibo and Wang Xiaofei 100,000 yuan each, totaling 200,000 yuan.

Early Rain Covenant Church’s public prayer for Yang Xibo and Wang Xiaofei on December 3, 2023:

“Dear Heavenly Father, we thank you for Yang Xibo and Wang Xiaofei. Lord, thank you for showing your great love for the Chinese church through the Xibo couple. In the past four or five years, they have faced persecution in their own church. Both were heavily fined and pressured in various ways, yet they continued to shepherd the church in Xiamen, spread the gospel, help young coworkers in church planting, establish Christian and theological education, nurture godly offspring, and raise workers for the kingdom of God. They also served many persecuted churches and families of imprisoned members in the kingdom. Lord, in the past two or three months, we have seen the persecution against the Xibo couple intensifying. They are facing a heavier cross. We pray for your grace upon your servants, to strengthen them, that they may experience your presence more deeply in all their trials, glorify your holy name, and strengthen all your children through their testimony.”
