Thanks to the Lord’s grace, the remaining three brothers who were detained at the police station were released during this morning’s worship service, and thus all the nine members who were detained yesterday because of the meeting were set free. Afterwards, they joyfully testified in front of the church about their experiences in the past 24 hours, and that they had kept the priority of the gospel because of their suffering for Christ.
During the interrogation of Subdeacon Jia Xuewei at the Qingyang District Case Center yesterday, a national security police officer dragged him to the toilet and punched and kicked him, beating him frantically, with his mouth full of obscenities, as if he had fallen into a state of insanity, before he was restrained by other police officers. Preacher Ding Shuchi was also violently dragged and beaten in the process of being taken away by the police. Yesterday, while enforcing the law at the meeting place, one of the national security chiefs was full of Cultural Revolution quotes, calling us traitors and sell-outs, and wanting to parade us all through the streets.
But as it is written in the Bible in the book of Acts. [Acts 5:40-42] When the high council obeyed him, they called the apostles and beat them, and commanded them not to preach in the name of Jesus, and released them. And they departed from the Sanhedrin, rejoicing in their hearts, because they were counted worthy to be dishonored for this name. And they continued teaching daily in the temple and in their houses, preaching that Jesus is the Christ.
This morning brother Hao Guiru’s fiancée came to the door of the police station, waiting for the bridegroom the Lord had given him; and at about ten o’clock brother Hao Guiru came out in peace, and they embraced each other and wept. The church is the bride of Christ, waiting for her Bridegroom in the midst of her sufferings, to dry all her tears. During the “Amen Song” at the 11:00 service, Preacher Ding Shuqi and Subdeacon Jia Xuewei were released, and they immediately came to the church to tell us about the Lord’s great works in them, and comforted every brother and sister with the consolation they had experienced in the midst of their sufferings.
We thank the churches for their prayers for us. During the five years of great persecution, we were revived while suffering, rejoicing while shedding tears, and the sign of the cross became more and more obvious; this is God’s work among us. Pray that the Lord will remember Pastor Wangyi and the servants who suffered in prison; he who sows with tears will reap with joy; he who goes out with seed and tears will return with bundles of grain with joy. May the Lord revive the gospel in this land, break the power of Satan, and save the people of this land who are bound by the sin of atheism.
